URBAN AGRICULTURAL CENTER

Will develop partnerships with African American and other minority farmers to acquire fresh produce.

 

Will also use produce for the offering of prepared “healthy fresh foods” for sale in Imani Village proposed Commercial Food Center.

• Adaptive re-use of former ‘Brownfield’

• Institutional partnership ensuring sustainable business model and best practices

• Unique interactive design and management program

• Children’s learning garden, senior garden/walking labyrinth, urban farm and allotment garden

• Garden product yield to supply Healthy Food Hub/Public Market

• Innovative sustainable design and operational features

• Consistent with Sustainable Chicago 2015; Healthy Places Food Plan; and Healthy Chicago

• Program synergy  with all other sectors of Imani Village
